About cubic yard calculator
cubic yard calculator (cubicyard.d4t0.com) is a free, fast, no-account tool for figuring out how much material to order for any construction or landscaping project. The site ships an ad-ready (AdSense-dormant) build, has no popups, no newsletter, and no email collection.
The site is run by Đạt Trần (admin@d4t0.com), the same person behind d4t0.com — a small collection of utility tools including Tra cứu sáp nhập, XSMB insights, IP check, and background remover.
Methodology
Every number on the site comes from the same TypeScript engine. The engine is pure, deterministic, and tested with over 30 known-geometry and unit-conversion assertions. It runs at build time (to render static HTML) and in the browser (the live calculator). The same code computes every number printed anywhere on the site — including the static tables on the conversion pages, the bag counts on the bag pages, and the tons-per-yard on the variant pages.
Material densities are from typical US mid-range values, last reviewed August 2026. For materials that vary regionally (sand, gravel, topsoil), we publish a typical number rather than a range. For applications that need precise densities (engineered structural fill, exact weight limits), check with your supplier.
How the site is built
The site is built at build time (no SSR, no runtime database) and deployed as static assets on Cloudflare. The only client JavaScript is one small Preact island (the calculator + converter), about 6 KB gzipped. The HTML is complete and useful without JavaScript — every page includes a fully worked static example and all relevant chart tables.
If you find a calculation that doesn't match your local conditions, or a material that should be added, please get in touch.
Source code
The site source is part of the d4t0 monorepo on GitHub. The engine code is in cubicyard/src/engine/ and is open for inspection.
